Odisha’s Krushi Unnat Sahayogi Links Student Fieldwork to Farmer Surveys

The established program pairs supervised agriculture placements with an app for village check-ins and surveys of farm-input availability.

Odisha’s Krushi Unnat Sahajogi places final-year agriculture students in field roles as Agriculture Development Associates. Its associated mobile app is designed to record location-based attendance and surveys about local farming conditions. The state agriculture department dates student involvement to 2018–19, making this an established program rather than a new October launch.

The work has a defined local setting. GIET University describes block-level assessments, contact with farmers and supervision by agriculture officers. For participating students, those assignments connect agricultural study with fieldwork; for the program, they provide opportunities to gather information about the conditions farmers face.

What the app records

The Krushi Unnat Sahayogi app listing describes attendance at allotted village councils and surveys of farm-input availability and farmers’ issues. It names Odisha’s Directorate of Agriculture and Food Production as the developer. The listed functions show how a field placement can pair a location check-in with information collected during the assignment.

The department’s 2022–23 activity report counted 657 participating students during that reporting year. That dated figure provides scale for the established program, while the university account and app listing explain the practical work: supervised assessments supported by attendance and survey tools.
